The Experience
This is the Amazon stripped back to essentials. You trek through primary forest, paddle black-water channels, and make camp where the day ends, stringing a hammock between two trees and cooking over a fire. Your guides are the real thing, people who read the forest for water, food, and direction, and who teach you to do the same.
It is hard, hot, and utterly absorbing. You learn to build shelter, find safe water, fish and forage, and move quietly through the trees. Nights are loud with insects and alive with eyes in the dark. You come out tired, filthy, and changed, with skills and stories that stay with you for good.
Trip options
Each runs as a small group with professional survival guides. Fitness and a taste for roughing it are essential.

Honest expectations
Be honest with yourself about this style. It is hot, wet, and physically demanding, you will be dirty, bitten, and tired, and comforts are minimal by design. Nights in a hammock take some getting used to, and the forest is loud after dark. But if that reads as a promise rather than a warning, this is the most rewarding way to meet the Amazon, and our guides keep the challenge firmly on the right side of safe.
Good to know
Genuinely fit. You will trek for hours in heat and humidity, carry a light pack, and sleep rough. If you hike, run, or train regularly you will be fine. If in doubt, start with the shortest option or ask us.
Yes, within its nature. You travel in a small group with professional guides trained in survival and first aid, clear limits, and constant judgment about conditions. The wildness is real, and it is managed carefully.
In hammocks with mosquito nets and tarps, at camps you help set up, or in tents where the terrain suits. All equipment is provided.
Yes. Shelter, water, fire, fishing, foraging, and moving through the forest are taught hands-on by guides who use them for real.
Keen beginners with good fitness can start on the shortest trip. It is challenging by design, so the more remote programs suit those with some outdoor experience.
