What does Authentic Brazil Travel do? +
We are a travel agency based in Brazil and registered in CADASTUR, the Ministry of Tourism’s register, and we plan private, tailor-made trips through Brazil for travellers from the United States and the German-speaking countries. Robin Himmrich, the founder, lives in Florianópolis and builds every itinerary himself; experienced local guides lead the days, with private transfers and hand-picked places to stay.
How much does a private trip to Brazil cost? +
Plan on US$200 to US$400 per person per day on the ground, with accommodation, transfers, private guiding and activities included. A privately guided two-week trip usually starts from around US$3,000 per person. Flights, international and domestic, are priced separately, and every trip is costed individually in a written proposal.
How far ahead should we book? +
Three to nine months ahead, depending on where you are going. For most routes three to six months is plenty. The Pantanal in the dry season, roughly June to October, is the tight one: its few lodges book out early, so plan six to nine months ahead there, and the same goes for December to February, New Year and Carnival. Shorter notice can still work, it mostly narrows your choice of rooms. When deposit and final payment fall due is set out in our booking terms.
How do the deposit and payment work? +
A 30 percent deposit confirms the trip, due within 7 days of the invoice. The remaining 70 percent is due 45 days before departure, and a booking made closer than that is paid in full at once. You pay by bank transfer or credit card, in US dollars, euros or Brazilian reais, and the full booking terms are published on this site.
How do you compare with other Brazil tour operators? +
Most Brazil trips sold abroad are run on the ground by a Brazilian operator, with the agency at home adding its margin in between. We are that operator: based in Brazil, we contract the guides, drivers and lodges ourselves, and the person who plans your trip is the one who answers when a flight moves. Every trip is private and built for you, with no fixed group departures. Any legal Brazilian operator can be checked in CADASTUR, and our compared guide sets out where a portal, a home agency or booking yourself is the better choice.
Do your guides speak English? +
Yes, on every route. We work with English-speaking guides we know personally in each region we plan. German-speaking guides can be arranged in most places on request, and we confirm the guide language before you book rather than promising it upfront.
