Guarulhos (GRU) is Brazil’s busiest international airport, so beginning and ending your journey in São Paulo keeps your intercontinental flights simple and usually cheaper: one hub in, one hub out. From here the whole country is a short domestic hop away, so São Paulo makes a natural, well-connected bookend for a tailor-made trip through Rio, the Pantanal, the Amazon, Foz do Iguaçu or the Northeast.
But this is no mere airport city. The São Paulo city tour

Give it a full eight hours and we go deeper: the street-art lanes of Vila Madalena, leafy Ibirapuera Park and its modernist museums, and the neighbourhoods most visitors never reach, with time to linger and eat well along the way.
A São Paulo food tour
São Paulo has arguably the finest food in South America, and this is the day to taste why. From the famous Mercado Municipal to the Japanese quarter of Liberdade and the Italian cantinas of Bixiga, we thread a route through markets, botecos and hidden kitchens.
It is built entirely around your appetite, street snacks and market stalls, or a standout table worth flying for, in a city where immigrants from Japan, Italy, Lebanon and beyond have made something all its own.
Santos & São Vicente
Trade the city for the sea on a scenic drive down the coastal range. Santos guards Latin America’s biggest port and the atmospheric old Coffee Exchange, now a museum, along with a record-setting beachfront garden that runs the length of its sands.
Neighbouring São Vicente, founded in 1532, is the oldest town in Brazil, a quiet, historic counterpoint to the metropolis you left behind that morning.
Embu das Artes
A colonial hill town turned artists’ colony, half an hour from the city. Cobbled lanes of ateliers, furniture and antique workshops climb to a whitewashed Jesuit church, and a celebrated handicraft fair fills the centre each weekend.
It is an easy, charming half-day, and the antidote to the metropolis: browsing, coffee and craft rather than skyscrapers and traffic.
The layover city tour
A long connection in São Paulo? Don’t waste it in the terminal. We collect you at the airport, show you the city for four, six or eight hours to suit your window, and have you back in good time for your onward flight.
Luggage is handled and the timing is watched closely, so a dead layover becomes the first real taste of Brazil.

São Paulo is a year-round destination, it’s a city, not a beach or a season-bound wilderness. The driest, sunniest stretch runs from April to September, with mild days and cool nights; October to March is warmer and more humid, with occasional afternoon downpours that rarely disrupt a city day. Since most of what you’ll do here, food tours, neighbourhood walks, museums, works comfortably in any weather, timing your São Paulo stop is really about your flights and the rest of your Brazil itinerary, not the forecast.
